Do you ever have those days when even the song “You Had a Bad Day” doesn’t cover how you feel? You come home and want to give up then and there and crawl off the face of the earth? Oh I have had those days throughout my career and life.
As I see it you have two choices … either give up or pick yourself up and start anew the next day. I opt for start anew the next day. Sometimes the next morning gives you a whole new perspective. If you feel you are not getting far enough fast enough you may be surprised at the progress you have actually made.
My advice is when you “can’t see the forest from the trees” sit down and write out everything you have done in your career from the time you started. That includes the computer programs you have learned, perhaps overcoming the fear of public speaking, or going from an hourly position to exempt and the list goes on.
We see problems solved so quickly on TV and in the movies but that isn’t real life. Sometimes getting where you want to go takes a lot of twists and turns but for each detour you will learn something of value guaranteed. So don’t give up because you will reach your goal if you keep going forward and remember how far you have come.
Have a wonderful day!
