Great strides have been made by women since I was a child as they were made to prove themselves over and over again at their jobs. Finally promotions came and woman headed straight for the top of the company. I say “Hoorah” for those trailblazers and a lot of them were our Moms.
My grandfather and grandmother ran their own business in Rochester, New York. It was a fish market and quite popular. When my grandfather passed away my grandmother took over as President. My own mother worked in real estate and then was President of a volunteer group after she married my Dad. After my Mom passed away and my Dad remarried my stepmother had been working for years as a librarian. She was a single Mom after an unpleasant divorce working to support herself and her son.
My point is I come from a long line of working women and perhaps that was what taught me there were no barriers that I could not cross in the working world.
I cannot end his blog without mentioning my niece who went back to school for her degree and she is in her early thirty’s with two small children. She is a straight A student and works so hard to get those grades and still manages to take care of her family.
I know there are a lot of Moms out there in the same situation and I take my hat off to each and every one of you.
Leave a comment about your Mom and how she influenced your life … I would love to hear from you!
