I am guilty of this myself! Did I get the place cards yet for my wedding in two weeks? No, but I should because the guests will be walking around aimlessly wondering where they are going to be sitting!
It is easy to put off what you should be doing today and especially when it comes to starting a new adventure or trying to repeatedly find a job in a not so good economy. Somehow you have to push yourself to get out there and post your resume to every job board that exists. You have nothing to lose but everything to gain. Maybe it will take a few weeks and you will have to be persistent and update and tweak your resume but eventually you will get a bite. Another idea that I have seen people do is create their own page with their resume and information on it which is a good idea as I use to search under the name of the job position to see if any resumes showed up. Or put your resume on Linked In as 9 times out of 10 it shows up in a search.
For those individuals with a particular talent and are trying to sell it without a website it is like riding a bicycle without wheels ... you will not get far! Find a friend who can help you and develop that website. Sure it will take time before people flock to it but word of mouth and blogging will get you far. A picture of what you are selling on the website is great! Use social media to the maximum as it takes on a life of its own. Most important get those business cards and leave them on boards at diners and restaurants as people actually do look at them.
So get up and tackle that “I Should” and watch it turn into “I wish I had sooner!”
