Sure the job is the same day in and day out and no longer challenges our minds. We go home feeling as if we have accomplished absolutely nothing and we keep saying “someday soon I will leave.” Then another year goes by and another and another mainly because we have the “fear of the unknown.”
So, if you are considering leaving sit down and research different jobs so you can get a feel of what you would like to do. Most of you already have a position in mind but make sure you are qualified for it. If not then you may have to take some courses at night or go back to school. Also, write down the pros and cons to leaving your current position. Money may be a factor in which case you will need to save up before you make the move.
Last but not least consider these questions before jumping ship: Is it really that bad? Have you asked for more in-depth work or would a promotion make your job better? Perhaps a different department? If all of the answers are no it is time to go.
When you are truly unhappy you do not do your best work because mentally you are already gone. Think it over and then go for it!
